A-1 Air Compressor started in Chicago in 1953. In 1970, the company relocated to Addison, IL in Chicago's western suburbs. In 1982 a branch was established to service the south side of Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and in 1987 a branch was opened in Rockford. In 1999, the south side branch was relocated to Munster Indiana. For almost fifty years, A-1 Air Compressor has continued to focus on air compressors, vacuum pumps, and related products. Currently managed by the second generation of owners, A-1 continues to serve the needs of customers, vendors, and employees.

A-1's original Addison location has quadrupled in size to 30,000 square feet since opening in 1970. Northern Illinois, from the Mississippi River to Lake Michigan, and Northwest Indiana are served with the aid of two branch locations, in Rockford and Munster, IN. Thirty-five employees are dedicated to providing the finest sales, installation, and service of air compressors, vacuum pumps, and their related accessories.
